On the way to the lock are a few small spillways, all of which are currently holding water. From the road the water depth deceives, appearing to be a least a few feet deep but then you’ll see egrets and herons walking several hundred yards out. Also, there are dozens of trees jutting out the water like the one shown above and are all strangely “snapped” off at about the same height. And all of these trees have no business in the water so I’m guessing these flood plains aren’t that old.
As for processing, this one was all done in Silver Efex. I used a pretty neutral black and white conversion, and then brought the contrast up some on the foreground to darken the reflection. Then I applied a split toning.
