Do Not Disturb

Pictured above is the Ogilvie-Wiener House, built in 1896 by the William Buckner Ogilvie. The Ogilvie own several historical areas and are all falling into disrepair. I’ve posted previously on the hardware store and hotel. It has also been brought to my attention that the turret side of the house is featured in the opening credits of True Blood, a fact of which I have no enthusiasm to verify.

Myself and two other photogs headed out early Saturday morning to cruise through the dilapidated area of Texas Street (where the giant rooster of previous post was found). We saw the Ogilvie house on the way in and had intentions of spending more time with it, but once we found entrance into an old bank we squandered most of our time there. By the time we made our way to the house, the light was terrible. The house was sealed up tight, marked as being under surveillance, and had the kind note of “Will Kill!” This is a place I will definitely have to return to in the evening.

  1. Oh to have the funds to fix this up! Right now it looks haunted, but fix it up and I would love that room with all the windows to possibly paint in. Would love to have seen this “in the day”!

  2. If your interested in seeing other pics and hearing plans for the house check out Austen Place Bed and Breakfast on FaceBook. Work will be starting shortly and you will get the chance to see the house as it was .
