Almost memory

If I can get away with just one more fountain photograph.

Having children largely catalyzed my shutterbug inside. I suppose as a new parent you quickly realize how quickly children change so you are at the ready with the camera to not miss anything. And while my memory isn’t bad, I tend to forget the larger details such as what age, where it was at, what was the event. What will stick inside the memory colander for me are minute, insignificant details. For this reason, I often try to mimic how I remember when photographing my kids. While I enjoy the standard frontal portrait, more often I will trade them for one like above. For this one, I can see her face clearly without seeing it in the photograph.

  1. Beautiful composition. You didn’t just capture a fleeting moment in childhood, you captured an emotional context. Well done !
