I don’t know how territorial herons are, but I’m pretty sure this is the same one from this post. This one was taken just a few days later, around the same time, and obviously under different conditions. I couldn’t decide which one to post from the shoot as was able to achieve a few different looks from the mist. Also, this one was from the furthest away with the largest zoom. I would get a little closer, grab a few, and then sneak up a little further. I learned a lesson a few months ago when trying to photograph herons on the Red River. I would greedily keep trying to get closer until I spooked the bird, ending up without anything. So now I work a bit more incremental. Of the heron “poses,” this is one of my favorite stances I’ve observed from them, this tucked in pose.
