Frenzy

Yeah, I’m still here. It’s just that time of the year when the days are short and a million things to do, and as usual, turns into a million things you forgot to do so the next day becomes a million billion things to do. Frenzy at the finish.

This one pulled from a pile of an alligator outing a few months back. The gators ended up a bit washed out in the murky water, so I processed this one in Silver Efex and used a red filter (which is equivalent to just biasing the red color channel in Photoshop or a similar software). Hope everyone is having a good week.

  1. Beautiful editing! Most people are not aware of how smart alligators are – we have an alligator sanctuary near here (in cold Michigan!) that we have taken the kids to. The owner rescues alligators that people have taken home as cute baby alligators or that drug dealers have used as “strong arms” and educates the general public about them, doing shows at the sanctuary and traveling with his more experienced alligators. Did you know that they actually recognize their own names, not just the general sound of it like a dog does, and that they recognize specific colors? I didn’t it!

    1. Thanks! Yes, I knew about names, but not about the colors. I’ve known a few people that have homes near swamps or lakes that gators inhabit and have named gators, who then respond. They have also made the mistake of feeding the wild gators which can make them lazy and want to visit more than catch their own food. I knew someone who couldn’t get out their door because two gators would squat there and wait for food!
