About a week ago I finally made it back to the old water works. During my first visit, I left many shots alone and spent more time with a few. Usually the kiss of death is when I say “I’ll hit those areas when I return,” which curiously rarely happens. When entering the main area of the water works, this is one of the first things you see. There are 3-4 more in a row. I’m sure they were used as coal feeds to the main ovens to generate steam. Immediately it made me think of something out of a Stephen Book where some sinister inanimate object is waiting to gobble someone out their boots.
