Dino Tracks – San Gabriel River

Dinosaur tracks: San Gabriel River, Texas
I live near the San Gabriel river, a river that winds through the western end of Hill Country. There is a bridge near HWY 183 where if you park near, and walk underneath and follow the river about a mile west, you’ll find a limestone bend with a set well preserved track of dinosaur tracks. The caveat is you’ll need to hike out in late winter or before spring to reach the area as will be underwater most of the year. There is a humbling element to the tracks that documentation removes – the story of these million year old graveyards. For scale, my foot barely fit halfway into the right tow of the footprint.
