Truncating Trunks

Cypress trunk on Cross Lake.

Can one complain that the weather has been too nice? I can. I’ve been chomping at the bit to try capturing these recent landscapes with some dramatic skies to add some different elements to the composition. On the last few outings, there hasn’t been a cloud in the sky, just clean and crisp. So at the lake this weekend I spent more time looking down and getting on the ground with the zoom lens to work around the flat skies.

As for processing, I’ve still been following the same path. I eased off the warmth and diffusion on this one though. I used Viveza on the water slight in this one. For some reason, likely the sunlight angle, the water on one side of the trunk was a muddy brown and a cooler green on the other. So I used Viveza to make the water color a bit more uniform.

    1. I’m still on the trial but I’m sold on the Silver Efex & Color Efex. Viveza is nice but I do most of my color adjusting in Lightroom or Camera RAW with brushes. The noise reduction and sharpening plug-ins I could take or leave. I’d like to just get the pieces I will use, but if it comes bundled, so be it. It’s worth it.
